Wow. This space moves so fast. Just a week ago, everyone was obsessed with Deepseek.
Not only that, but Deepseek got integrated into Perplexity, Poe and other platforms crazy-fast.
I even saw memes on Europe lagging behind.
But Europe has jumped into the fray with the French-based Mistral, and the cutely named, Le Chat.
I mentioned Mistral in a previous post.
So yes, another app to download from the App Store.
AI is also becoming more militarized. And Mistral has aligned with Helsing.
This centralization of power we are seeing now is deeply concerning from a human perspective. (And there were several UFO ads in the Superbowl or UFOs loving shitty American food products, like Doritos.)
And apparently, Mistral is a little more friendly with sensitive subjects like Tiananmen Square, which was probably more searched than the Superbowl.
(And did you see Kendrick Lamar bring out all Drake’s Exe’s? Man’s got a beef. And some tight dancers.)
Markets are volatile. Trump, after promising at least a month without tarriffs to Mexico and Canada has now announced a 25% aluminum tariff (which will effect the price of canned food for those who might think it will only effect construction.)
In fact, Ontario sponsored a sad ad about trade partners that really stood out among the Superbowl ads in tone. It felt misguided, rushed, and desperate. And it probably cost $8 Million dollars placed right at halftime.
But the point I want to make is more of a shift in this newsletter.
I don’t think the value of AI for most people is to download the latest engine. Or why this LLM is SOOO much better than that LLM.
All of that is noise - and missing the real point.
I want to have this newsletter help people use AI more effectively.
After all, it’s something you have to learn how to use well - or you miss the value.
So look at this as a pivot.
It’s not about how fast you get the news - it’s about how effective you can be with AI.
Let me know if this resonates with you.
